He has been a consultant neurosurgeon at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust since 1996, prior to this worked at other private hospitals in the region. He has chosen to operate exclusively at Nuffield Leeds because of the investment and technology provided by the hospital which enables Mr Timothy to perform complex reconstructions of the spine with confidence.

Mr Jake Timothy is a leading consultant neurosurgeon who has been based at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust since 1996-2016. His areas of interest include minimally invasive surgery, keyhole surgery, vertebroplasty, spinal fusions, neck and back surgery.

Mr Timothy trained at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in London and worked in neurosurgery at King's Hospital in London. He completed his neurosurgical training in Leeds where he then went on to obtain his MD thesis. Mr Timothy was the first neurosurgeon to become the National Spinal Fellow in Leeds in 2002 working with his orthopaedic spinal colleagues.

Mr Timothy pioneered and introduced many new techniques to the Yorkshire region, including artificial disc replacements, interspinous distractors, extreme lateral approaches, minimally invasive surgery, and was awarded a clinical excellence award in service delivery for the vertebroplasty service set up at the NHS Trust. Mr Timothy has a multidisciplinary approach to spine pathology and includes physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, holistic medicine in addition to his medical pain specialist and anaesthetic colleagues.
